What is Mirror Work?
Mirror work is a tool to work on self-love and self-esteem. You may be saying to yourself “I already love myself, I don’t need this,” yet can you ever love yourself too much? Mirror work is a powerful method that helps to reach the subconscious mind and transform limiting beliefs AND it’s so simple!
Mirror work utilizes affirmations. An affirmation is a statement that we say to ourselves. These affirmations are a component of our internal self-talk and can be positive or negative. Re-training the inner critic can be achieved by using positive affirmations and practicing mirror work.
So how exactly do you practice mirror work? All you need is a mirror. You look deeply into your eyes and repeat affirmations either silently or out loud. Saying them out loud has more of an impact because it engages more of your senses and helps the re-programming. The mirror will reflect back to you what you are feeling and experiencing. You will see the truth in your own self; where you are open and flowing and where you are blocked and resisting.
Mirror work is versatile and can be as simple as staring into your own eyes and recognizing the divinity within you. This process of transfiguration, or seeing yourself as the divine, can be very powerful.

An Exercise for Getting Started
The following mirror work exercise comes from Your Mind Your Best Friend:
Spend some time before the mirror, looking into your own eyes. Affirm that you are a radiant child of eternal light. See the beauty, the goodness, the Divine love shining in your own eyes. Remind yourself that you come from God, that you are showered with God’s love, that you share that Divine love with everyone you meet, that you love yourself, and that others love you. Know that you are a blessing to your family and to society. Feel the glow of Divine grace and love in your own heart. Work on the plane of spiritual consciousness as well as on the physical plane. Look into your eyes without blinking and feel the calmness there. Recognize the blessings of God manifesting in your being.
Doing this mirror work regularly will make you more beautiful. It will create miracles. You will grow in self-esteem. You will become more aware of your inner strength and power of mind. Divine grace will manifest miracle after miracle around you. You will become your own, true, orienting center.
